It’s 2025 but it feels like the 13th century
When the Mongols tore through Europe
In a tsunami of fear
Riding the crest of rape and savagery.
These were the days of bear pits,
Baiting and cruelty beyond imagination,
Animals maimed and ripped to pieces for fun
People rode with bloody stirrups,
Fuelled by agony, on an orgy of cruelty.
But that was then when we were still barbaric,
Before civilisation took hold
And people became less brutal.
Now it’s 2025
And Putin pounds Ukraine with missiles and drones
Sending his troops to death in a gruesome meat grinder.
And the descendants of the evil holocaust
Now dispense their own brutality against the helpless.
It’s 2025 but it feels like the 13th century.
The same cold inhumanity,
The same lust.
The same hatred.
The same blood and agony.

Human nature hasn’t really changed. We, as a species, cover it up, but we are still fascinated by death, agony and blood. We binge on murder mysteries, gawp at accidents and, given half a chance, still love cruelty.
Civilisation is a thin veneer. Beneath lies a squirming mess of nastiness.
For heaven’s sake – it is 2025!! Yet we still wage war, threaten each other with nuclear holocaust and play games of intrigue and brinkmanship.
We are truly insane!!
What the world could be without all this!!
