Fabulous Nick Harper at the Wrecking Ball Hull!

What a cracking night!! Despite still recovering from covid and having a shoulder problem Nick pulled a bravura performance together.

This one was a little different. Nick talked us through, and played the tracks from his new album:

The tales of his early days travelling up to Roy in London from Wiltshire, as an eight-year-old, life in the studio at Abbey Road with his dad and his various misadventures and mischievousness put flesh on the bones. The new songs were a delight.

As usual Nick (despite his ailments) gave it all. Superb. He ended his set with a trio of songs – The fabulous Magnificent G7 (my all-time favourite), the emotional Verse That Time Forgot and culminating in a mesmerising tribute to Joni Mitchell with a version of her song River from her brilliant Blue album (One of my favourite albums).

All told – a gig to treasure! Thanks to Gary, Rich and Lou for all the effort of putting it on. Well worth it and much appreciated.

It was great to meet up with old friends and people who wanted to say hello. Lovely to see you all!

I had a great evening! Thanks everyone! Loved it.
