Well, I’ve just spent the best part of today in doctor’s surgeries and hospital A&E.
I’ve got this respiratory virus that has resulted in me suffering five big nose-bleeds. I had to get it sorted. Couldn’t afford the washing bill.
I’ve seen loads of NHS staff – doctors, nurses and orderlies – all were brilliant.
I’ve had my blood pressure taken five times, blood oxygen, pulse rate and lungs monitored. I’ve had ears, eyes, lungs and throat examined three times by three different doctors and nurses. I’ve had blood taken and tested for a wide range of problems. I had a full medical with reflexes tested, brain efficiency and circulation. My heart was checked. I have been given a treatment for the nose-bleeds in the form of an ointment.
The diagnosis was that I have a viral infection, no bacterial infection and the nose-bleeds should clear up.
They think I will live!!
Everyone I spoke to or was involved in my treatment was polite, friendly, pleasant and extremely efficient.
My only gripe was that there were too many patients and not enough staff. They were worked off their feet (but retained a cheerful disposition) – but that’s political. The government has underfunded the NHS for thirteen years and undervalued the brilliant staff.
The cost of my day’s tests, examinations and treatment – £0. They even gave me and Liz a free sandwich and biscuits!
If this had been the States and private health care this would have cost thousands.
If they had discovered underlying problems in my blood or other tests I would have got that free too!
I love the NHS!! Long may it live! Thank you to the Labour Party for bringing it in against opposition from the Tories!!
Glad you all managed to get to the bottom of it.
Caution and precaution. Health is most important!! Hopefully now sorted. Cheers Michael!!
