The biggest thing about the Press we have is not the hacking. Hacking the rich and famous to create salacious stories is bad, illegal and harmful, but it is not the worst aspect of our obnoxious Press.
The worst aspect of our Press is not even being talked about.
Democracy depends on factual reporting. If you don’t have unadorned facts you cannot make up your own mind.
The worst thing about our Press is the bias.
The Newspapers are owned by wealthy tycoons in cahoots with the Tories. Their bias is so extreme that it has become an unrelenting stream of propaganda.
Tabloid papers are nothing short of Tory advertising. They scaremonger, distort, lie and misrepresent the truth.
A good portion of the population are subjected to this unrelenting stream of strongly biased misrepresentation.
That undermines the very basis of our democracy.
Why is nobody investigating that?
