Every morning our boat was covered in the most beautiful moths and butterflies.

The rainforest is alive with wildlife. The most amazing creatures.

When I was young the fields were alive with insects – butterflies, bees, moths, beetles, grasshoppers, crickets. They are gone now. The fields are sprayed with pesticides and herbicides. The ponds are filled in.

Bur without the wildflowers, their nectar and their seeds, without the insects, there is nothing for the wild birds to feed on. There is nothing for the shrews, voles and hedgehogs. Without the shrews and voles there is nothing for the kestrels and owls.

It was a joy every morning to see the incredible insects on deck. But Bolsonaro is burning down the amazon for profit.
