Let’s put a windfall tax on all the profiteering millionaires for have made a fortune out of Covid and Brexit.
Let’s block the tax loopholes so people like Rees-Mogg can’t stuff millions into the Cayman Islands and avoid tax!!
Let’s give tax cuts and a big chunk of cash to all those on benefits and low wages!
That’s a start!!
Agree with all these measures Opher. I think there needs to be a rise in Universal Credit payments to meet current levels of inflation and basic cost of living. The £20/wk uplift claimants received during the Pandemic should have stayed in place.
In addition to your measures, how about not allowing any individual to stand for election as an MP if, either their personal assets (not including their home) exceed a threshold of say £2 million, or they hold remunerated positions at high level with private companies. That might ensure any politician, drawn from the masses, is more closely aligned with the lifestyles of the constituents they represent and serve. Government for the wealthy by the wealthy needs to end.
By far the biggest welfare benefits paid in the U.K are the tax-breaks given to the rich, and the tax loopholes used to avoid paying tax. Easily rectified – either do as you suggest above – or make it law that those who don’t pay tax don’t get to use any public services, agencies, facilities, or any infrastructure that those who do pay tax, have paid for.

Quite agree! Representative MPs – not in it to line their own pockets.
How many times have we heard them say they’ll close the tax loopholes? They don’t close them they use them!
