Exactly – and that is what is wrong with politicians. It’s selfish greed. Politics is not about public service; it’s about power and defeating the opposition.

Alas, that’s probably true although have heard what people apparently hate most is hypocrisy. I suppose the secret is to lie to oneself, or else make sure the traces of lying are erased. A murky old world, innit?
