Psilocybin Street

The psychedelic reality of the ice-rimmed blankets on a cold concrete ground as an unequal society callously discards those who can’t compete. This reality is all that is on offer and escape from its reality is another trip altogether.

  1. Hey Opher, Namaste

Thank you very much indeed for an elegant and eloquent summation of the principle themes of the poem. Your comment serves as a wonderful introduction thank you. Your support is much valued and appreciated.

The poem originates in this specific area of London, within sight and sound of Westminster. Indeed the area featured in the London map was suggested by the Poet as representing an approximate boundary to their travels and to other Homeless that they know who share their thoughts.

When considering the artwork Gallybloggers found a London street-map downloadable from a tourist information site showing a walk that would take one from Westminster to Farringdon station taking in pretty much all of the main Institutions of ‘Power’ in the UK Capital. We found the irony in this quite perturbing. Those who make policy walk past, drive past those Homeless every day and still they do nothing to help anyone other than themselves. Gallybloggers cannot understand why one human being would show another such blatant disregard and disturbing right-wind prejudice of this god-forsaken government and their shameless contempt for human life.

Having read your article this morning regarding Brexit, your mentioned thousands of people involved in the money-game chasing the dollars in Europe and leaving behind empty homes and a depressed UK Capital. These homes will be perfect to house the Homeless who live throughout the City of London and it’s immediate suburbs, a number suggested at being 8,000 every year by the Charity, Streets of London (1). The Guardian Newspaper published an disturbing article in January 2017, showing latest official figures suggest an estimated 4,134 people were forced to sleep outside in 2016, up 16% on the previous year. 16% increase year on year (2), and this greed centric government continue to do nothing to resolve this growing crisis. Perhaps it is because they are multi-millionaires and will walk away richer and remorseless regardless of what they do or don’t do. It is time UK Law was changed so that those MP’s who are found to ‘diminish democracy’ are tried and prosecuted in public. Public Office should not allow privilege, wealth, and friendship to deny the Law being applied equally to every single citizen of the UK regardless of what title they invent, buy, or are given in reward for unquestionable silent loyalty to governance.

Gallybloggers believe Social Reforms in the UK are long overdue, and until they happen this government are responsible for suffering, anguish and pain, and creating conditions where people commit suicide. The UK government has a duty of care that must be extend equally, fairly and reasonably to every UK citizen. Homeless and the growing numbers who are Homeless, unsupported by the state are proof that government policy is not inclusive and does not make adequate provision for thousands of people. Human Rights Lawyers must now start getting involved working to make changes that ensure equal rights are granted for one and all.

Until that day, Gallybloggers say to all artists, go gather-up your pens, your brushes, your lap-tops and carrying them like staffs of redemption express yourself to the politicians of the world who dictate every facet of your life and help guide them to enlightenment.’

Thank you for the re-blog kind sir,: for your on-going support and kind regards.

Love and Peace and Prosperity to Homeless Poets! 🙂

    1. Indeed Corbyn did suggest using the empty houses to home the poor refugees from the Grenville fire.
A law should be passed that if you leave a property vacant then the council can use it to rehouse the homeless.
It is time the country started caring again and all creative people and caring people use their talents to create a fairer, more just, more caring society.

      1. Amen to all of the above 🙂 Tis indeed time the Jedi take away control from The Empire. Light sabres to the ready! A call to artistic arms for all those who can and will persist resist and exist walking the Artist’s Way.

‘Do or don’t do, there is no try.’

May the Force be with you Master Opher.
