  1. You have to take great care with statistics , you know the old saying lies, damn lies , and statistics. For example a qualified nurse is in the top 1% of the world’s income bracket. Of course that is because one third of the world’s population survive on less than $2 a day.
    50% of the global wealth is now owned by the top 1% and many of those live in rich western nations.

    1. Aah but 85 isn’t a statistic is it?
      That nurse clearly illustrates the terrible inequality that has been orchestrated by the wealthy for the wealthy. I find it infuriating. They have created poverty when there is no need.

  2. Well 1% of 7.5 billion is 75 million a big number so many good earners and pensioners in rich nations will be in the top 1% of the world’s highest incomes. It’s not orchestrated Opher it has just come about due to human nature. That’s the problem we cannot find a scapegoat in spite of all the finger pointing at the next level up the wealth pyramid. There is much in our behaviour that we do not have control over , we are not totally moral beings. There is much debate at the moment over the female version of Lord of the Flies the question being will girls be as bestial as boys in the same situation, or are they sweeter by nature? If women ruled the world would it be a better world ? Incidentally I’m not in that top 1% myself but we’ll up into the first 5% it makes me feel very lucky yet I wish I was a bit wealthier.

    1. But Kertsen it does not have to be that way. With a fairer taxation system and a better global policy many more people could have a reasonable standard of living.
