There are numerous answers to the global warming scenario but that alone doesn’t solve the underlying problems does it Simon?
Of course it doesn’t – but they are mad enough to do it. I went to an evening lecture about it at Martin School Oxford Uni
I would worry about the long-term problems that might create.

Well we can easily cool the earth in a number of ways – dust in the stratosphere (as you suggested), mirrored sheets in space around the equator, increasing cloud cover to reflect heat, seeding plankton with ferric salts to increase alghae bloom and absorb more CO2 and cut down the greenhouse effect. They all have a downside.
I reckon that reducing population, making more efficient machines, planting more trees, stopping deforestation, and changing to non-polluting energy production would win my approval.
