A Free ‘Oral Vaccine’ for Literacy

Every child should have the wonder of being read to. Not to have that is to be deprived.

  1. Undoubtedly I was read to during my very early years but am too old to remember. However, I do recall one teacher at junior school who’d read to the class every Friday afternoon, and where required, voice the various characters differently as well. Spellbound, the class would happily sit in silence, enthralled by the story. Of the stories read my undisputed favourite was The Hobbit! To this day I can still hear the Mountain Trolls arguing amongst themselves in disagreement over whether to bake or boil the Hobbit and his dwarfish friends! ‘Tis no doubt a contributing factor to my thorough enjoyment of Audio Books, which I’d wholeheartedly recommend to anyone to try.

Every child deserves a magical childhood and story-telling certainly has a part to play in that. Fairy-tales especially, offer a unique way to educate a child and address many psychological issues, anxieties, and concerns found at that young age.
