You can tell a lot about a band or person from the music they like. The songs they chose to cover reveal the influences that have been at work shaping their own story.
‘Under the Covers’ was the book that I wrote as a follow up to ‘Rock Routes’. I took some of the big name bands and researched every song they had ever covered (live, on record, in sessions) – I put these in charts and broke them down into genres. The results were fascinating and quite revealing. It gave me a whole raft of material to discuss.
I have this typed as a manuscript and fully intend to type it up on to the computer and update it.
It was fun.
