We arrived into the sultry heat of Bangkok, caught a transit van and drove through the city.

It looked crowded. Full of electricity cables. Busy. Skyscrapers and slums. Monks in saffron robes. Ornate boats. Flowers.

We unpacked at our hotel and set off to find out more.

The roads in Saigon are a mass of scooters, mopeds and motorbikes. It’s endless. To cross the road you simply walk out at a steady pace and allow them to flow around you. It’s a scary experience but it works and you get used to it. If you waited for a gap in the traffic you’d be there a year or two!
