  1. “The man has consistently produced legislation to cut corners on the environment and health and safety. It maximises profits and puts more money in the pockets of the rich (under the guise of producing more jobs) and who give a flying fuck about the effects on nature or workers’ health!”

Do you really think O was concerned with anyone’s health or wellbeing? No. He was after the redistribution of wealth. It is a silly notion that Climate Change can be solved by giving money to third world countries so they can frolic on the beach naked all day.

    1. Leroy – Inequality is the biggest problem with America. It is this naïve love affair with runaway capitalism. The end result is all the wealth and power concentrated in a tiny elite and millions living in abject poverty.
There is more than enough for everyone to live well. It is merely poorly distributed.
Obama was very concerned with the health and well-being of ordinary people and the environment. He oversaw much good legislation to protect peoples’ health and safety, to provide a safety net, to protect the environment from profiteers (and to prepare for a pandemic). It is Trump, with his ignorance and lack of understanding about science and the environment, who disbanded all those institutions, cut funding and brought in legislation that took away workers rights and environmental protection – under the guise of stoking the economy. In actual fact he was filling his own pockets and those of his rich friends.

  2. “They sold their souls for power. Now they are allied to Trump and he is being seen for the toxic child he is. The Republican party will go down with the Trumpian ship – and good riddance! They are morally corrupt. The Republican party has been taken over by Tea Party extremists who are complete nutcases. Trump is the manifestation of that stupidity. The flat-earthers, conspiracy theorists and religious fanatics have taken over the asylum.”

Didn’t you predict that in 2016 along with Marilynn and SOT? Who knows what will happen. Even a blink hog finds a nut every now and then. I’m surprised you are still making predictions after that embarrassment. Yes. If you believe CNN, Trump will lose in a landslide, just like last time. The election of Biden is an existential threat to the US.

The Tea Party is passé, BTW. You need to find another conspiracy theory. Did you know that it originally included Democrats, Republicans, and Independents? It stood for a responsible government. What were those nutcases thinking? Ultimately, they were so denigrated by the left that the “party” faded away.

    1. Hey Leroy – I don’t remember predicting anything in previous elections. It was very knife-edge. In fact Hilary won by three million but the strange system you have over there put Trump in.
The Tea Party is thankfully dead. A very American phenomenon of extremists. But it paved the way for this wave of right-wing extremism that has plunged the USA into division, hate and extremism. They faded away because they were nutcases.
I’m not particularly enamoured with Biden but I’d vote for a sack of shit rather than Trump. He is a danger to the whole planet. The man is a petulant child. He has ravaged nature and caused problems all around the world. It has been like putting an overgrown child in charge. That’s what you get with spoilt rich kids.

  3. “It isn’t about puddles on farms. It’s about run off into waterways that kills wildlife and pollutes water.”

I forgive your ignorance of American farming. It is quite literally about mud puddles. Cattle farmers take advantage of natural depressions or create them to make watering holes for cattle. If one dries up or they wanted to get rid of one they created, they had to get permission from the government. When these watering holes start to dry up, they literally become mud puddles. Do you believe farmers should be so tightly regulated? Nonsense. It is about the government exerting control over farming.

      1. “There’s nothing wrong with puddles and ponds; there is with run-off and pollution.”

So, you agree that the government shouldn’t regulate mud puddles. Good. Common ground at last.

      2. Leroy – I agree that a government should not interfere with minutiae. They should be concerned with anything that impacts on the environment or other people and the care of livestock, other than that they have no place.

  4. “I agree that a government should not interfere with minutiae.”

I am glad you agree that the government doesn’t need to regulate every facet of our lives. IMHO, that is precisely what O tried to do and what Clinton would have completed had she been elected. Essentially, what he pushed for was nominal property rights and de facto government control. That is my definition of fascism. If you don’t control your property, then you don’t own it. And, that makes it just another form of socialism. The only difference between that and communism is that extreme left fascism gives the illusion of property rights.

    1. Leroy – firstly I think you have misunderstood what Obama was doing, and, secondly I see you are misusing political expressions – fascism, communism and socialism. McCarthy created his witch-hunt in the fifties and was roundly ridiculed for it, but incredibly the American people swallowed it hook, line and sinker. They now support a system that feeds all the wealth to a tiny minority, call it American capitalism, and think any deviation from it is going to rob them of their freedom and call that socialism. Sad.

    2. Leroy
Like many these days, you really need to brush-up on the true classic definition of Fascism as most of us learned it back in Junior High:

      “Definition of fascism
1 often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
2 : a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control early instances of army fascism and brutality”

What we are seeing here in the US under Trump is a manipulation of our system and erosion of the Constitution as the first phase of his efforts to institute Autocratic Fascism. In his mind, he will only be able to compete with his present world Dictator mentors and heroes when he obtains the ability to fully control our news and information sources and is able to stifle free speech and the right of assembly.

And for those who may not be aware (depending on what you use for your news and information) Trump essentially just took over the Voice of America, which is the US international broadcasting service for radio and television. His operatives are still working to also purchase OANN, an extreme right wing TV news outlet.

      1. Bill, my definition is so ingrained in me, that I had forgotten who influenced me. I had to look it up. It comes from Ludwig von Mises. I used to read his works in my younger days. My definition is perhaps a little more succinct but is essentially the same. Ludwig von Mises trumps any dictionary definition that you can come up with. He accurately defined fascism as a form of socialism.

Regulations are a means of controlling private owners. What the US government is tending towards is sometimes termed corporate cronyism. It is not capitalism, quite the opposite. It is government and corporations working together to suppress individual freedom and competition, such as we see with the censoring today by Google, Twitter, Facebook, Amazon, and the MSM.

O ruled by decree, issuing executive orders ad nauseam. He bragged about bypassing Congress. He was an authoritarian. And, as an example, today, we see DACA become law, a presidential decree. O even said that he knew it was illegal, yet, our Supreme Court continues to make law. The same with the ruling a day or two before. That, my friend, is the erosion of the Constitution. There is no doubt that the US is tending towards fascism. Corporate interest trump private interest today. And, you guys think that is the proper role of government.

      2. Leroy – there is no way of discussing anything if you go making up your own definition of words. Words are symbols. They only work if the symbol means the same thing to all people. You are just trying to create a fake definition. We all know what fascism is. Socialism is not fascism. That is utterly ridiculous.
Certainly I would agree that government is in bed with big business and big business is controlling peoples’ lives. The world is being run by a wealthy elite who, through control of the media, corruption, bribes and canvassing, control politicians and political systems. That is capitalism. It is also exactly what Trump represents. He is part of that elite and exemplifies it. Everything he has done has funnelled wealth and power to that elite.
Socialism is the opposite of that. It takes power from the elite and gives it to the people.
You are right, under Trump, who flouts the law, refusing to comply – such as with his tax returns, nepotism and business – is acting as a totalitarian fascist.
The purpose of government is simple – they are elected by us to look after our needs. They have to ensure our safety, that we are cared for and have our freedoms. I certainly do not think it is right that big business controls us or that the political process is controlled by the elite. I want a government that represents the interest of the people and creates a fairer society where wealth is distributed more equally and the infrastructures we all depend on are properly organised and funded – education, health, transport, social services, welfare, defence, policing – at present these services are done on the cheap because too big a slice of the cake is going to the elite.

      3. It doesn’t matter who Von Mises or anybody else is, language is language. Every word has a meaning. It is no use me calling a car a cup and expecting everybody to accept my definition. Fascism is fascism.

      4. WHAT’S REALLY AT STAKE IN TRUMPIST AMERICA…Please view following before reading the rest of this, hard to view as it will be, but will show “Leroy’s ‘murrcia” at work. https://youtu.be/0jtXAP06qzA Both women initially survived this attack. One, a 24 year old, died in hospital this morning. The car driver was arrested. still wearing his MAGA hat, carrying out the Racist in Chief’s command to get rid of protesters, all “radical leftists and looters.” 2 other people. 19 and 14 respectively were killed in CHOP by “Loudgoy” Trumpists, making things “right, far right for the King. Media has been very silent about sources of murderous violence perps for obvious reasons. No music can heal my heart or soul right now. Share this video with other Europeans so folks understand what is really happening in the US. This sort of thing is okay for Leroy, I’m sure. It’s also a quick way to explain why folks here wanted a CHOP.

  5. Amazed ol leamo leroy hasn’t cheered Orange F**k on to bring the army into Seattle. Trumpy shoulda called the army in to attend his Nuremburg ralley. Get dullsa in Tulsa,eh? And jobs wise, the economy is so “bottomed” all those nifty jobs were crap wage jobs…now all gone.

    1. Quite a rally that Jeff!! A million or more wasn’t there? Put a stop to testing – it just makes us look bad and scares the minions from going back to work.

      1. The tide has turned. Corona virus has shown up these populist fools for what they really are – shallow, self-centred, greedy narcissists.

      2. There’s never been more people at a Nuremberg rally than in Tulsa!!1 Billions tuned in…and then there’s the economy….never a better one in all HISTORY or Hysteria..

      1. Let me move my hands in a lil curve to con you more into believing the Orange F**k….it’s all under control. and yeah, plase turn me in to the Secret Service, rightist scab.

  6. No, leamo leroy boy, they didn’t. You been overran by panicked clowns out to get your tiolet paper. You ERWs…all same, all the time. And hopefully, they’ll get back to lynching your wife for corona virus.

    1. Heard you got your left testicle shot off with a rubber bullet, Jeff. I didn’t think that you had the balls. I used to think you were nuts. Guess you are just a nut now. Get well soon!

    1. It’s a strange Orwellian double-think of the Right. Black is white. We didn’t land on the moon. The earth is flat. The CIA blew up the Twin Towers. The UN is run by the elite. Fascism is left-wing. There was no holocaust. Who needs education and health care? Trump is our god.

      1. “It’s a strange Orwellian double-think of the Right. Black is white. We didn’t land on the moon. The earth is flat. The CIA blew up the Twin Towers. The UN is run by the elite. Fascism is left-wing. There was no holocaust. Who needs education and health care? Trump is our god.”

I agree with the Orwellian double-think but for different reasons. The hawks have becomes doves, and the doves, hawks. NAZIsm has become capitalism. Whites have become enslaved and the people of color have become the masters. What is right is now wrong. The Age of Reason has yielded to the Age of Lunacy. The principles under which the nation was founded have been abandoned. The ideals that lead to the end of slavery are under attack. Free speech is gone. If one questions the BLM movement, the one founded under the false narrative, “Hands up! Don’t shoot!”, you can be fired. Our legislators kneel down to the fascist thugs. Cheer on. Cheer on.

The November elections are existential in the US, as well as the rest of the world. As goes the US, so goes the rest of the world. Maybe we get to see your vision of the world, the American deathwish. It is my nightmare. If Trump loses or the Senate is lost, the knaves of the world with extract their revenge. There will never be another Republican president–ever. The Democrats will rig the elections so only they can win. It will be a communist heaven where the elites rule. I know you expect to be one of them. Don’t get your hopes up. They only like you while you are useful.

      2. Leroy – I really don’t think you are thinking straight. Do you really think that Trump isn’t the epitome of the elite? Do you really think that this privileged billionaire really cares about ordinary people? Or is he just using them in order to keep power and feather his nest?
Wake up Leroy. He is one of them.
What we are seeing with the Covid 19 crisis is the fall of populism. The three stooges – Trump, Bolsonaro and Johnson – promise the earth and look after themselves and the masters they represent. They are conmen one and all.
What we need is a return to standards of decency where all people matter.

      3. Well yes – that is true. Hopefully out of the lunacy might come some sanity and improvement. The planet needs it. Trees and animals need it. The climate needs it. People need it.
Surely we have to come to our senses???

  7. Ask, leroy…He got all bent outta shape over you supposedly changing the topic, yet tried to change topic to global warming to again deny. As said, same ol ERW crap. wonder what it’s like for leroy and his constantly wet clothes from always being in De nial.

      1. Well, sadly I believe he will win reelection. enough stupid people. They should realize he doesn’t give a tinkers dam about them, and how “Nobody listens to us,” crap from “good white people.” With reason. those “good white people hate anyone with unbleached skin. “those people took our jobs”, but then ask how long it has been since they lost their jobs picking fruit and vegetables for slave wages. When was their white little families last working 12 hours a day in the fields?

      2. Polls are a momentary snapshot. By November, stupid will set back in, and he’ll just mouth, “see how roaring MY economy is?” And stupid, celebrity drunk voters will put him back in office. This is America: Land of the idiots and home of the enslaved.

      3. I think you may be wrong Jeff. I pick up the feeling that the tide has turned. Covid is going mad and will kill a lot more people – particularly in Trump areas. There’s a lot of people going to be laid off.

      4. Well, seems dead people don’t water down the stupid people. Yeah, best thing right now about CV is Trumpists are contracting it. Seem that alone should be proof of his failing his “base.”

      5. The idiot is encouraging them to get ill – more rallies I say!! If people want to be daft let them! They’ll learn the hard way!

      6. There is certainly a strange psychology at work. I guess it has always been there but it has gained in power. I find it boggling. Trump is riding it and inflaming it. It’s this evangelical, gun totin’, antigovernment, antiscience, maverick lawlessness, patriotic madness. It’s fuelling the conspiracy theories and feeds off distrust, racism and paranoia. When I lived in the States I just ignored it and thought it was weird but it seems to have become super-beefed up. It seemed to start with the Tea Party and went from there. We just thought they were a crazy minority. It seems worse in the South. A heady mix of religion and racism.

      7. Yes Trev Lol – they are a bit out of sequence. I was being a bit sarcastic really. Can’t abide God Save the Queen (and all it stands for).

  8. “Well, sadly I believe he will win reelection. enough stupid people.”

Sadly, you may be wrong. It’s looking bleak for Trump. With the CCP virus still progressing, Trump can’t hold his rallies, and, even when he does, they are sabotaged by Never Trumpers. Rallies are his strong point. I take heart in the polls being wrong last time and likely are again. Too many including myself voted against Clinton. Many people, like myself, don’t openly support Trump. He may be a narcissist and a sociopath, perhaps a psychopath, and a pathological liar, but, sometimes its a psychopath that you need. Many managers are. The Democrats are crazy. Trump is the antidote.

I don’t see how anyone could for “For” Joe Biden, but there will be many voting against Trump. Trump’s black support is holding strong at 28%. The Democrats can’t win without it. That’s why they used Soros to manufacture the BLM event. I hear that 80% are not black. Most are anarchists and fascists. I believe the suburban moms will go with the law and order candidate. The Democrats are running on a Defund the Police platform. They are scaring the heck out of people. You’re now a racist if you celebrate the 4th. That should be a loser. It will come down to how many vote against Trump.

Despite all the rhetoric, Jeff, I suspect when the curtain closes and no one can see you, you will pull the lever for Trump. Go ahead. Deny it. That is what I expect.

    1. To an extent, I think you are right Leroy. People will not vote for Biden; they will vote to get rid of Trump.
I also think you are right – he is a lysing narcissistic, psychopath/sociopath. What I find unbelievable is that you can glibly say that sometimes we need a psychopath in charge. We never, ever, ever need somebody with those tendencies in power; not even in wartime. They would callously send hundreds of thousands of troops to their death without a thought, on a whim. Just like Trump has been urging people back to work to get the economy going so he can get himself re-elected even though it may well kill another hundred thousand people. He’s already killed more than Vietnam, Iraq, Korea and Afghanistan put together. Does he care? Not a bit. Yet you think such a man is fit for office. He obviously isn’t.

      1. “What I find unbelievable is that you can glibly say that sometimes we need a psychopath in charge. We never, ever, ever need somebody with those tendencies in power; not even in wartime. ”

Unfortunately, many if not most people in power from presidents, politicians, police, headmasters to managers fall into this category. Biden falls into this category. He lies and plagiarizes so much that he can’t keep up with them. He’s an arrogant prick.

I had to deal with a psychopathic plant manager a couple of times. He rose pretty high in the corporation because he got things done. He could browbeat employees and suppliers unmercifully. He could knowingly lie or pressure people to do things against their conscience. Good people could not do the things he did. He could be a very nice guy too. It’s the kind of person you need in wartime.

      2. I think you are dead right about sociopaths and psychopaths Leroy. Because they either like inflicting pain on people or really don’t care they tend to be black and white, appear strong and rise to the top. Where I think you are wrong is that we never, ever, need them in charge. They are ruthless and lack empathy. Especially in war. They would willingly sacrifice millions and cause untold misery in order to win.
        Trump is a classic sociopath.

    2. Expect all you want. You are truly a kool aid-drunk fucker Leroy. Jim Jones would be your kind of president. And once again, you rave about Soros, but deny there’s a Trump crime family…LOL Your personal cowardice is showing. Not an “open Trumpist.” bah. you are just another phony patriot, too…You only believe in symbols about this country, not what it really is or should be.

    1. Cheers Leroy – Happy independence day to you! Though I can’t help thinking that. as with Canada, Australia and New Zealand, you might not have been better off with us.

      1. “Though I can’t help thinking that. as with Canada, Australia and New Zealand, you might not have been better off with us.”

Oh my gosh. We would probably have a national anthem like “O America”. Kill me already.

  9. The comments seem to have come in (by email) out of sequence so I thought Leroy’s comment ‘Kill me already’ was in response to God save the Queen!

      1. “But then the Stars and Stripes is every bit as bad.”

You’re probably thinking of “Stars and Stripes Forever”. That is not our national anthem. It’s the “Stars Spangled Banner”. The imagery sends chills down the spine of every true American. No other national anthem does this. It’s enormously difficult to sing, so we also measure how well a singer performs it. If you look at the full wording, some of it is extremely bizarre. So bizarre, I wonder how anyone could have picked it for the national anthem. The main words that people hear are inspiring. How could you not appreciate a victorious struggle?

Oh, say, can you see? By the dawn’s early light
        What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming;
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming.
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air.
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there:
Oh, say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave?
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

      2. Because it is a process of nationalistic brainwashing that is totally crass. It is a psychological method to get people to obey you. That’s all. When I taught in the States and all the kids had to stand with hand over heart and pledge allegiance it was absolutely laughable – fortunately I was exempt – I certainly wouldn’t have joined in.
We used to do it over here. In the cinema and at the end of the day on radio and TV they’d play God Save the Queen. You were expected to stand. I always stayed seated.
How can you be spouting about freedom one minute and then blind nationalistic allegiance the next. The two are utterly incompatible.
The process of brainwashing starts in schools, churches and homes. Being brainwashed isn’t freedom in my book.
Fortunately we don’t do that so much over here anymore.

    1. “The comments seem to have come in (by email) out of sequence so I thought Leroy’s comment ‘Kill me already’ was in response to God save the Queen!”

I was alluding to Canada’s national anthem entitled, “O Canada”. Even the Canadians don’t like it and wish they had something more inspiring.

  10. “No Leroy, you’d be alright – it’d be God Save The Queen.”

I know that you are joking, but, in all seriousness, bowing to a monarchy is antithetical to the American spirit.

I googled the words to it. This is what I found 🙂

    God save the queen
    The fascist regime
    They made you a moron
    A potential H bomb
    God save the queen
    She ain’t no human being
    And there’s no future
    In England’s dreaming
Don’t be told what you want, you want
And don’t be told what you need
    There’s no future, no future
    No future for you
    God save the queen

Don’t take it personally. I thought you could use a laugh. Don’t mean it as an insult to your queen.

    1. Now then Leroy – I’m usually the first to insult the aristocratic elite. Sex Pistols – one of my favourite bands. Our Queen is a figurehead of no real power. But is a President (of whatever persuasion) any better? I think not.

    2. I should think not! Mildly amusing. Makes me wonder what is the ‘American spirit’ (Jack Daniels?).
I think the idea of a directly elected President with so much (or so little?) power and as ‘Commander-in-Chief’ is antithetical to democracy.
You wouldn’t choose a monarchy today but ours just evolved over a thousand years and whilst the Queen (for ceremonial purposes only) may be ‘Commander-in-Chief’, at least we beheaded one of her ancestors to show that Parliament is boss – again a system that has continued to evolve for a further 370 years (since the be-heading) so we get closer to democracy but still have a long way to go.
The idea that the American system is a democracy (votes for sale?) is a democracy is surely a joke?

      1. I agree with you Trevor. But in both our countries it is the wealthy that calls the piper. We are both sham democracies.

      2. “I think the idea of a directly elected President with so much (or so little?) power and as ‘Commander-in-Chief’ is antithetical to democracy.”

Trevor, we are a republic, some say democratic republic. We call it democracy but it is not. Perhaps the biggest problem is that we are tending towards a pure democracy.

We don’t elect a president directly. It is done via the electoral college. If elected directly, Hillary Clinton would be president today. The electoral college is about as undemocratic as you can get. Generally, states require that the electors vote for whoever wins the majority of votes for the state. Last time, there were a few faithless electors who did not do so. The states attempted to fine them. The Supreme Court rejected the state penalties. They can vote for anyone. The number of electors is based on the number of senators and representatives that a state has. Representatives are proportional to the population. Each state has two senators regardless of its population. It gives flyover country disproportionate power. The Democrats hate it as they frequently come out on the short end of it. It prevents New York and California from ruling the rest of the nation.

The president’s power has eroded over time. So has the power of Congress. The Congress has usurped the presidency and the Supreme Court has usurped the Congress. Congress doesn’t even write the laws today.

AG Barr believes in the separation of powers as defined by the Constitution. The result is a muscular chief executive. Basically, the president can do almost anything he wants. The remedy is impeachment. Congress has used its oversight powers to encroach on the presidential powers. The Supreme Court makes laws, rather than calling balls and strikes. That’s the crux of the problem in the US today. The Democrats tend towards the UK model and the Republicans towards the Constitution. Without the Constitution, there is nothing the government can’t do.

  11. Hey, Jeff. I’m writing an article on racism. Mind if I use some of your quotes? They’re outstanding examples of the racism against Asians. Thanks so much!

    1. “Trevor, we are a republic, some say democratic republic. We call it democracy but it is not. Perhaps the biggest problem is that we are tending towards a pure democracy.

We don’t elect a president directly. It is done via the electoral college.”
I did know some of that Leroy, I was careless in saying directly elected but you vote for a President in effect.
But your explanation is very clear and we seem to agree that we do not live in democracies, neither in the USA or the UK. (I suppose I greatly prefer the Parliamentary system and wonder if the French, with their voting system, are more democratic despite having a President too. But having to vote twice as the French do would be a pain).

  12. “When I taught in the States and all the kids had to stand with hand over heart and pledge allegiance it was absolutely laughable – fortunately I was exempt – I certainly wouldn’t have joined in.”

The Pledge of Allegiance is a little bizarre, I have to admit. I don’t think anyone has to do it today. I go through the motions. I don’t want anyone to think that I am a pinko.

When my son came to the US, I put him in 4K ( kindergarten). They are mostly private religious schools. I went to an event at the church. We had to pledge allegiance to the US flag, the state flag (which I had never heard of), and the church flag (truly bizarre). Seems like there was a fourth flag. I had never seen this before, other than for the US flag.

    1. Lol Leroy – I think I’d much rather be a pinko. Allegiance is something I don’t give to anybody or anything. I pick who I side with on the basis of what I consider to be right. My country has been wrong far too many times and so has yours.

  13. More examples of crass patriotic garbage (or not?). Opher might like one or two of these:
    “God Save the Queen”
    (standard version)
    God save our gracious Queen!
    Long live our noble Queen!
    God save the Queen!
    Send her victorious,
    Happy and glorious,
    Long to reign over us:
    God save the Queen!

    O Lord our God arise,
    Scatter her enemies,
    And make them fall:
    Confound their politics,
    Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On Thee our hopes we fix:
    God save us all.

    Thy choicest gifts in store,
    On her be pleased to pour;
    Long may she reign:
    May she defend our laws,
    And ever give us cause,
To sing with heart and voice,
    God save the Queen!

I quite like this alternative version by William Hickson
    God bless our native land!
    May Heav’n’s protecting hand
    Still guard our shore:
    May peace her power extend,
    Foe be transformed to friend,
    And Britain’s rights depend
    On war no more.

    O Lord, our monarch bless
    With strength and righteousness:
    Long may she reign:
    Her heart inspire and move
    With wisdom from above;
    And in a nation’s love
    Her throne maintain.

    May just and righteous laws
    Uphold the public cause,
    And bless our Isle:
Home of the brave and free,
    Thou land of Liberty,
We pray that still on thee
    Kind Heav’n may smile.

    Not in this land alone,
    But be God’s mercies known
    From shore to shore:
    Lord make the nations see
    That men should brothers be,
    And form one family
    The wide world o’er.

    Then there’s ‘Rule Britannia’:
When Britain first, at Heaven’s command
    Arose from out the azure main;
This was the charter of the land,
And guardian angels sang this strain:
    “Rule, Britannia! rule the waves:
    “Britons never will be slaves.”

The nations, not so blest as thee,
    Must, in their turns, to tyrants fall;
While thou shalt flourish great and free,
The dread and envy of them all.
    “Rule, Britannia! rule the waves:
    “Britons never will be slaves.”

Still more majestic shalt thou rise,
    More dreadful, from each foreign stroke;
As the loud blast that tears the skies,
Serves but to root thy native oak.
    “Rule, Britannia! rule the waves:
    “Britons never will be slaves.”

Thee haughty tyrants ne’er shall tame:
All their attempts to bend thee down,
    Will but arouse thy generous flame;
But work their woe, and thy renown.
    “Rule, Britannia! rule the waves:
    “Britons never will be slaves.”

    To thee belongs the rural reign;
Thy cities shall with commerce shine:
All thine shall be the subject main,
And every shore it circles thine.
    “Rule, Britannia! rule the waves:
    “Britons never will be slaves.”

The Muses, still with freedom found,
    Shall to thy happy coast repair;
Blest Isle! With matchless beauty crown’d,
And manly hearts to guard the fair.
    “Rule, Britannia! rule the waves:
    “Britons never will be slaves.”

    The version I know has:
Rule Britannia, Britannia rule the waves
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves!

Then, by another ‘King Charles’ (contemporary musician) there’s:
    O England:
My love of England is my love for the Earth
The womb of the world, the grave and her birth
The trees that make the forests, the lonely ancient oaks
They’re defiant to the pull of time as we come and go
its branch is my stairway to the sky and the sun
They watched me from a baby when my love first begun

My love of England is my love of her rose
With thorny stems she is powerful over her foes
With fragile petals that bring all her grace
Her beauty, her charm, her scent, her embrace
White rose for purity and yellow for power
Red roses her heart and her blood come the hour

O’ England you bore me, you shaped me, you taught me
That I’ll know words with which to describe thee
My darling, my love, I need you beside me
Your storms, all your warmth, all your thunder and
    your lightening.
    The earth beneath my feet
The blood and the bones of the free

My love of England is my love of her shadows
That walk as the day decays toward her rising shallows
The buildings crafted by the hands of her men
The contemplative swing of the hands of Big Ben
Time has taught us when we move slow it moves faster
The fire of the future turns to ash of the past

My love of my England is my love for my Queen
She’s the water in our rivers, she’s the sky above our trees
A symbol of England that I’ve grown to revere
A symbol of freedom to unite us against fear
An ideal to live for, but should it come the time
I know she’d give her life, that’s why I’d give mine

O’ England, you bore me, you shaped me, you taught me
That I’ll know words with which to describe thee
My darling, my love, I need you beside me
Your storms, your warmth, all your thunder and
    your lightening
    The earth beneath my feet
The blood and the bones of the free

    1. Trev – I’ll have to pick over that a bit more. There were certainly elements that I concur with and elements not. Perhaps I’ll have to write one myself!!

    2. You are crafting another false narrative, Leroy? I guess I’m suppose to get all upset and threaten legal action, eh? Still waiting for the Secret Service to knock on the door. No, you don’t have permission to use my words. There’s a spate on news stories about racist reaction to Asians over CV19…use facts for a change. Whomever would publish your false narratives can’t be very bright. Tell ya what, I’ll consult with George Soros when I collect my paycheck from him and ask Antifa Central Headquarters for permission, corn hole.

  14. ” The car driver was arrested. still wearing his MAGA hat..”

Let’s don’t let the facts get in your way. Now, why would a black male run over a BLM protester? I seriously doubt he was a Trump supporter. Indications are that he was a left-wing activist like yourself. I guess it will all come out in a few days. Maybe he was just a frustrated driver.

    1. Leroy the lame loves SYMBOLS OF America, not what it is…when sanity fails, just dress something up in “Free Dumb and Liber Tea” and it becomes Leroy’s ‘murrica…ONCE AGAIN, Leroy boy lies. Stop reading Dimbart…you have absolutely no idea of what’s going on, just want to cast garbage to dilute…what A fool. Here’s some more “racist text” for your supposed article: What would make me happy is getting Trumpist dogs to lynch their own families, then let the pigs live with that memory.

      1. Leroy knows nothing about the incidents in question, of course, just more Trumpist noise. The 27 year old male killer, was, by witness account, wearing a MAGA hat, worn, of course, by all leftists. He was another white guy, not black. Oh yeah racist pig leroy. Musta been a black guy, they are ALL murderers. Own loving seeing people die like that leroy boy…and be sure to change political context to suit your slimey purposes.

      2. From my POV it looked like a deliberate act of violence aimed to kill. It seems the guy was a white Trump supporter and a vicious thug – not left-wing or black. America is sure getting eaten up with hatred and division. I don’t think it would survive another four years of Trump. He is fuelling it and tearing the country apart. I cannot think of another President who has been so divisive and partisan. He feeds his base lies to incite them, is a purveyor of fake news and accuses every scientist, expert and news reporter of lying, thus undermining the whole stability of the nation. Incredible.

    2. Dimbart yer source leroy boy? Yeah, leftists killing other leftists, and to what end? False flag stuff is the domain of ERWs. Maybe he was just another ERW madman using a car as a weapon ala Charlottesville. Presidential pardon?

  15. WTH, Opher. I understand understand how Jeff comes up with this junk, but I am disappointed in you. Have you seen the picture of the guy in chains? He’s black. He immigrated from Erithia (sp?) to the US. My gosh. It’s literally black and white. Your TDS is so bad that you call black white. The truth is the only thing that matters. I don’t care about his color. I am gifted in being able to see things as they are and not how I want them to be.

I really have no opinion on whether it was on purpose or not. He was traveling in the correct direction, I heard. The police failed to block the entrance lane, they say. There’s debate over whether the road was shut down. I can’t tell if he intentional to hit them or was trying to avoid hitting them. I’m not a mind reader like you guys. I don’t listen to the left wing conspiracy channels, so I have heard nothing about a MAGA hat. It’s possible. It still doesn’t make him white. Photos indicated that he associated with white people, but even that doesn’t make him white. Get a grip! Do you need a link?

      1. “Yeah – send me a link Leroy.”

There are any number of links out there. If you don’t like this one, I find another from a source suitable to you.

        https://www.theepochtimes.com/man-who-struck-protesters-blocking-highway-gets-1-2-million-bail_3414831.html

Granted, you can only see his arms. At the request of his lawyer, the judge requested that the media not show his face. However, there are pictures of him online. I seem to recall that this is a liberal website, but I am not sure.

        https://heavy.com/news/2020/07/dawit-kelete/

There are other photos of him out there hanging with white folks. He poses with a Pi Kappa Alpha flag in one of them. That fraternity claimed he never joined, but he did rush. If you aren’t familiar with that lingo, I can translate.

Now it is incumbent upon you and Jeff to support the claim that he is white and wore a MAGA hat. I can across a site that claimed he was a leftwing activist, but I can’t find anything to back it up. I could be wrong about him being an immigrant. One source said he was born in Seattle.

You said that Trump supporters were calling black as white, impugning the Trump supporters. Unless you can prove otherwise, I would say you are the guilty party. The ball is in your court.

  16. I might add that since this story has all but disappeared from the main scream media, you can bet on that alone that it was not a white MAGA hat-wearing maniac…:)

  17. So, I admit the error. he’s East indian by appearance. MAGA hat still part of this. Like the Trumpist banners reading: TRUMP Make America cry again. and ol Leroy boy goes on and on over this guys skin and me, after posting nothing but lies, paragraph after paragraph. BTW, George Soros got back to me; said tell the fuck to sod off. Antifa General HQ said same. so, sod off with your article, leroy. I only following orders like a good leftist. lol

    1. I don’t think the race of the guy changes anything. Looking at the video of the incident it looks to me as if the fuck was deliberately trying to kill people. His motives will come out in the trial.

      1. Given the politics (likely politics) of the killer, the press isn’t talking about or tying him”to Trumpists,” yet. The shooters that killed the 19 and 14 yr olds up in CHOP were apparently “Loudgoys” aka “proudboys” thug followers of Il Duce. The reason political motivations are off the press table is we are already close to a shooting civil war here. This crap from the ERWs will touch off a war, and they might not win it.

      2. What are the ERWs Jeff?
Yes, it really sounds as if the US has deteriorated into a polarised ball of hate. It is the same here with Brexit to an extent. Johnson is like a watered-down Trump. But we don’t have guns.
Leadership makes such a difference. It sets the tone for a nation or organisation. The ethos filters through. Trump has certainly been deliberately fuelling the division, using race and fear, terrorism and unemployment. He’s stoked up a seething cauldron and bolstered the bully-boys. Dominic Cummings used the same tactics here in the Brexit debate.
It seems that Goebbels hasn’t died. He was reincarnated. Repeat a lie often enough and people believe it.

      3. LOL…You guys are so funny. Race was so important until you found out he was black. Notice how the story died down in the main scream media since it discovered he was black. Race doesn’t matter to me, but it surely does to the left.

      4. It doesn’t matter to me what colour he was; it’s what he did and why. It was a disgusting act that looked completely deliberate. His colour is immaterial. His motives aren’t.

      5. Now be honest both of you! Race matters to everyone. Not my tribe. It’s partly instinctive and of evolutionary significance (be wary of strangers or those ‘not like me’) and partly learned. Different culture/habits (they eat meat, we don’t), different religion, different skin colour, different language (we don’t understand each other), different body shape, different team, different territory etc. etc.

Discrimination is inevitable, sometimes necessary, sometimes required by those discriminated against or for and so on.

We just have to learn (today) when discrimination is useful/beneficial (to whom?) and when it’s harmful – to the ‘victim’ or the ‘perpetrator’.

I could go on but I won’t – except – I don’t like the French, I don’t like Germans, I don’t like the Welsh, I don’t like Americans (all with a grain of truth) – why? – Probably because I’m English! (English, not British!).

I can wear my prejudices with pride, be ashamed of them, or address them as an issue to be intelligently resolved.

      6. AaahTrevor – you put your finger on the nub of a number of matters. Yes – we are tribal. Yes – race is important in one sense. Yes – we have inner prejudice and tribal allegiances – probably instinctive. No – it did not matter what the race of the murderer in the car was (all that mattered was his motive and intent). Yes – we need to be aware of our own instinctive responses to race.
But in the end, surely, we should strive to eradicate the primitive tribal prejudices that have dogged us and made life miserable. We should strive for equality and to judge a person on their worth, not their race.

  18. Hmmm. This deal about the race of the car killer here, seems like part of an episode of Fawlty Towers, the Germans, now that episode banned by BBC for being “racist.” The major going on about cricketers from Africa verses those from India in a discussion he’d had with a woman who’d said of the Africans, “those wogs…” the Major corrected her. “Those people from Africa aren’t wogs, wogs are from India. those Africans are niggers.” That’s what got it bannned 30 years after the fact.

    1. There certainly is a big move to suppress alternative views – they are all fake news. One of the big double-talk phenomenons is the way fascism is now associated with the Left when clearly it was a result of the Right. There is no end to what propaganda can do. I see Trump is going for the racist card again. Last time it was the USA was being flooded with criminal, terrorist rapists. I wonder how this election division and hate will pan out?

      1. “There certainly is a big move to suppress alternative views – they are all fake news.”

That’s the understandment of the year. It is not your voice that is being surpressed, however.

      2. I hope you are wrong. Hopefully the way he is dealing with Covid 19 so badly will finish him off. His base are a minority.

  19. ” I’m still not sure you’ve cottoned on to the game being played.”

I think I understand. It is divide and conquer. They are after the unwoke free speech and you wholeheartedly support it. I can see it in how you denounce Tommy Robinson’s free speech. It’s okay that you don’t like it; the problem is that you want it shut down. When they succeed, they will come after your free speech. They will keep you around as long as you are useful.

The use of the word “cotton” used to be common in the US. Now, it is associated with slavery because slaves picked cotton. It is now considered racist. You are not being woke today.

    1. Lol Leroy – divide, insense, hate, lie, deceive and conquer. That is the way it’s done. The very fact that you support a fascist lowlife football hooligan and racist and think his hate speech, exaggeration and lies is free speech, says it all.
You’ve seen my blog. Do you think there is the slightest bit of censorship? None whatsoever.
The biggest lying purveyor of fake news is Trump. Can’t you see that?

      1. But, Trev…I’m sure leroy loves your opinions. You just have no fuel to add to culture wars, so he may not approve of you as much as he should. I think you a good guy, if that matters…

  20. “Leroy boy is a Notsee stoking culture wars. It’s all they’ve got.”

You’re so smart, Jeff, accusing the other side of what you are doing yourself. It’s called projection. You’re so original…NOT!

  21. “I hope you are wrong. Hopefully the way he is dealing with Covid 19 so badly will finish him off. His base are a minority.”

Biden’s base is also in the minority. Good news, however; Trump was up 10% today, or was it yesterday. Biden can depend on about a third of the voters even if he goes full-blown cuckoo. Trump can depend on a third of the voter, even is half the nation dies of the CCP virus. It’s a battle over the clueless in the middle. Soccer moms will vote for safety and vote Trump. Radicals will vote Biden.

Did you hear the news? A whole 30% of Americans think Biden is incapable of debating. They had to pull the plug on an interview today before he said something stupid. Can you believe that the Democrats are running a senile candidate? Are the American people (at least one-third of them) that stupid? Oh, wait a minute; Jeff will vote Biden. At least that is what he says. Actually, when the curtain closes, I suspect he will vote Trump. He didn’t pay his $10 and he wants his police to come when they come after him.

      1. Yes but you have to admit Leroy is quite amusing and might be right. Since Biden is going senile (as he clearly is) it will be interesting to see what happens in a year or two if he is elected.
Either way, until America elects a Sanders (follower?) I don’t hold out much hope. The democrats have generally been more war-like than the republicans. (remember it was Nixon who pulled out of Vietnam and reached an accord with the Chinese.)
America needs a Republican party that Obama would be comfortable in and a Democratic party to the left of that. Some hope!

      2. America is undoubtedly a mess. It seems incredible to me that these two people are the best of the bunch (once again). I think the choice of running mate is going to be crucial. I don’t think Biden is going to last the term – but then Trump doesn’t look too healthy either!

    1. As far as the debates, I think most of us learned that Trump is incapable of debating based on his performance during the last election.
He is unable to perform the thought and reasoning process required to carry on a structured argument. His ego, hate and temper will only allow him to demean his opponent, and his extreme narcissism forces him to resort to intimidation tactics and constant lies. When responding to even the slightest criticism, Trump goes on autopilot into his defense mechanisms. He also uses the tactic of repeating catchphrases multiple times during a statement. Thus, he attempts to control the conversation while thinking about his next utterance. All I remember from the last debate is Trump deflecting, deceiving, denying, distorting, and walking in circles around his opponent in a feeble attempt to intimidate.
His base undoubtedly finds this entertaining and “cool” based on why they would have voted for the Orange Buffoon in the first place.
I worked for an ultra-narcissist for many years. I found that they are all the same as if they all come from the same mold.
Here is a very good article that pretty much explains Trump and every other narcissist I have met perfectly:
      https://thoughtcatalog.com/shahida-arabi/2016/06/20-diversion-tactics-highly-manipulative-narcissists-sociopaths-and-psychopaths-use-to-silence-you/

      1. That’s an excellent article Bill. I recognised a lot of the behaviour patterns that Trump displays – the rages, name-calling and vindictive personal comments are particularly prevalent.

    2. Leroy spouts all sorts of numbers, none of which are true. leroy lies enough, like his boss, King Donald believes, everyone will “accept the lies.” he does, so why not you? His latest attempt to attack me is as lame as the rest of his stuff, and per usual, lies. He didn’t sprinkle his Trumpisms with “free dumb and liber tea,” so he’s at the bottom of his stinking rightist barrel…leroy may be southern, but he’s no comfort.

    3. Let’s lie like leroy, the lyin’ King. Trump’s approval rating is up 556%…everybody loves him. Support among honkies is up 889%. And, of course, leroy is RIGHT, i’ll vote Trump. leroy makes claims, but can’t say why I’d vote Trump. Biden is hated by EVERYONE400%, of course. I’m not the coward waiting for the colored masses to pour through his windows, you are, leroy boy.

  22. Dang, Bill. If I didn’t know better, I’d swear that article was about Jeff.

I think one could convince themselves that just about anyone could fit those points. Much like calling me or Trump or anyone a fascist. Like I have said many times, you find many sociopaths/psychopaths/narcissists among people in leadship positions. They have there place in society just like anyone else. I don’t like them generally. Sometimes, they are just insecure. But, they are easy to manipulate once you recognize what they are. They’re good at getting things done. Trump has been successful against great difficulties.

You may not like Trump’s debating style, but he defeated numerous Republican candidates using his style. He did intimidate Clinton. The battle between Clinton and Trump was over who was the least objectionable. Trump won that battle.

    1. No Leroy – he didn’t win that battle. If I remember three million more people thought he was the most objectionable. It is only a bizarre system that gave the loser the win.
You are right about our leaders. The psychopaths, sociopaths and narcissists tend to gain leadership positions – that is mainly because they either don’t care who they shit on, or enjoy shitting on people. I have to ask why people keep voting them in????
Trump has been a disaster on many fronts – the environment tops my list, but the Middle East, Korea, Russia, trade wars with China, the sanctioning of racists, support of crazy gun laws, hypocrisy with religion, disaster with Corona and incompetence with BLM are just a few of his incompetencies. Giving huge sums to the rich and running a short-term gain policy/ long-time loss on the economy is another two. He’s pissed on his allies, cosied up to tyrants and lied his way through his presidency. But I suppose that all sits fine with you?

  23. I’m glad that I am able to amuse you, Trevor. I’ll try to amuse you further.

Sanders is well past the opportunity to become president. It is unlikely that he will even be alive at the next opportunity. His heir apparent, AOC, may have an opportunity once she grows up. She is driving the Democratic party today. Don’t think so? Biden just accepted the Green New Deal, AOC’s brainchild. She’s got to be the dumbest person ever elected to Congress. If she didn’t have outside money, she would never be re-elected. Unfortunately, she is well-financed. Sanders is a Russophile. Yeah. Just what we need…NOT!

Until recently, the Democrats were doves and the Republicans were hawks. It has reversed now. The Democrats are good at sticking their toes into political wars, such as Vietnam. They never fight to win. O called ISIS the JV team. They darn near took over the Middle East. Trump came along and in a few weeks, the ISIS problem was gone. He untied the hands of the military. Both parties do an excellent job at keeping the US in the state of war. Trump is the first one in memory who hasn’t started a war, but he hasn’t finished yet. There is still hope for the MIC. It is not well known, but Trump is negotiating with the Taliban. He should do the same with the Russians. If successful, the Democrats will impeach him.

Any party that O is comfortable in is one I would not be.

    1. Leroy – Obama was an intelligent man. Trump is a privileged idiot and spoilt brat. The division he has fermented for his own ends is tearing America apart. In the rest of the world he is seen as an overgrown baby who has tantrums and is totally unreliable.

      1. That’s what people say about O who are afraid of being accused of being a racist. He doesn’t release his college grades obviously because they are not so good. I don’t blame him. O is really good with the sports analogies and is impeccable with the timing of his jokes, which is a mark of intelligence. Have you ever seen him give a speech without a teleprompter? Believe me; it ain’t pretty. In any case, he is a boring speaker. He doesn’t inspire. He is more of a bootlicker. He doesn’t speak well contemporaneously. One rarely sees Trump use a teleprompter. He generally speaks contemporaneously. He has an excellent memory. He is not gifted with language; that I admit, but he knows how to reach his target audience. If it were possible to objectively score the two, I would bet that Trump has the higher IQ by far.

Trump may have been born into privilege. So what? It didn’t buy him much in getting elected, nor did it help him once elected. Contrast that with O. O stumbled his way through life, never having accomplished much of anything. People always showed deference towards him out of fear that he would pull out the race card. He strikes me as lazy, floating his way through life and into the presidency. He has never impressed me with intelligence. There’s talk about Big Mike running as VP or even for president. Believe me; there is no way. They are living the highlife with the 1%’ers. No way they ever give that up to the grind of presidential politics.

      2. Lol Leroy – there is no doubt that Trump connects with his base – but then most of them are monosyllabic. Being able to say ‘Ug’ is meeting them on their level.
Hey – Make America Great! Rip it to bits, support slavery. Support fascism and bring back the KKK. Free guns. No hoax viruses. Everything is fake news. Don’t trust experts. Science is rubbish.

    2. Leroy-
You are wrong about Trump not starting a war.
He has started the worst war of all for our country, which is division of our citizens that will most likely result in another civil war, simply to appease the needs and wishes of his mentor, Vladimir Putin.
It really hits home for me because I have not only witnessed two of my long time friends end up getting divorced due to political differences, but have had to abandon a couple of my Trumpanzee fishing buddies, as all they would do is talk about the Orange Buffoon and degrade others in our group constantly for not agreeing with them. Seems it is the only thing that occupied their minds, and they couldn’t even leave it home on a fishing trip.
Seems that Trump is able to politicize anything with his base, as they appear to fall for anything that comes out of his mouth. He has even politicized the current pandemic, which will certainly result in many more deaths due to ignorance.

      1. Bill – I agree with you. He has stirred up such division that the whole country is virtually in a state of civil war. His actions abroad have undermined NATO, undermined the WHO, undermined Covid-19 responses, undermined environmental and conservation work and institutions, worsened the situation in the Middle East, given Israel carte blanche to continue their oppressive expansion, Let North Korea off the hook, allowed proxy wars in Sudan, Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen and Iraq. His incompetence – resulting in 138,000 deaths – is more American deaths than the whole of Iraq and Vietnam and Afghanistan put together.

      2. “He has started the worst war of all for our country, which is division of our citizens that will most likely result in another civil war, simply to appease the needs and wishes of his mentor, Vladimir Putin.”

Who’s done more for Russia, O or Trump? O gave 20% of Ukraine to Russia. I admit that O gave Ukraine blankets and MREs to fight the Russians. Trump gave them tank killers. I suppose you remember O’s off-mike comment to Putin telling him that he could do more for him after the election. So enough of this imbecile Russia collusion nonsense already.

      3. Whose is opening colluding with the Russians? Inviting them to hack the opposition? Who was supported in the election by directed Russion interference? Who meets with Russian politicians and businessmen? Who has investments in Russia?

      4. It is true that the KKK was founded by the Democratic Party, but that was way back in history before both parties switched platforms (late ’40s to late ’50s) as the Democrats began to make efforts to desegregate and offer rights to black people. The so-called “Dixiecrats” carried to platform of discrimination and opposition to civil rights to the Republican Party.
As far as Russian influence in the past and upcoming election, it was very obvious that it occurred and is again ramping up as we speak. I have a friend who manages multiple giant data “colocation” facilities for a major communications company who gets reports on internet traffic that specifies origination points. It is very disturbing to see the levels of ads and bots on social media that originate from Russian sources. Over the last several months, this activity has increased tenfold according to him. Not only that, but many of the “Patriot” Right Wing news and info sites have their roots in Russia, and attempts are made by these “news providers” to appear as they originate here in the US by the use of fake office addresses, and even fake author bios that make it appear that the article authors really exist. Both Twitter and Facebook are working overtime to track and disable fake Russian accounts geared towards spreading lies and deception to get Trump re-elected, not to mention aiding Trump in dividing the country as much as possible come election time.
Sorry, but Russia badly wants and needs Trump to win the election so as to not only forward their movement of establishing authoritarian dictatorships all over the world, but the long-time historical goal of finally taking over the USA as Nikita Krushchev stated back in the early ’50s “We will bury you without firing a shot”
Here’s a tracking tool that will give you an idea of how rampant this is:
        https://securingdemocracy.gmfus.org/hamilton-dashboard/

      5. Right on, Bill…now Orangy can look in the mirror and say he’s like Putin or Kimmy…secret police being the currency of cheap dictators. Where’s ol Leroy boy touting Il Duces minions? Now there’s a riot going on in Seattle….Orangy’s secret police have pissed everyone off, and they are taking to the streets. Orangy wants a showdown to appease his clown squad. Gotta give ol Leroy Whitaker a break. he’s got to divorce his current wife he married so he can say he’s not a racist, and marry his sister to save his sister from a lonely life of spinsterhood. They’ll have kids. Preview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkGiFpJC9LM

      6. Once you get to the level of secret police picking up protestors you know you’re in deep shit. Pinochet territory.

    3. Nobody want trash like you in the Democratic party, leroy boy. Thislast id another smelly heap of Trumpist lies…yeah, blame it all on Obama. King Donald does…”Obama and Biden stopped testing…” huh? But King Donald has such and alpha male orange face and plastichair, plus he wa a celebrity!!!!” OOOOOOooo, AAAAAhaaaa…

  24. “[H]e didn’t win that battle. If I remember three million more people thought he was the most objectionable. It is only a bizarre system that gave the loser the win.”

Firstly, we use an electoral college, not the popular vote, so he did win that battle. If we didn’t use that system, all they would have to do is campaign in California and New York. The loser never wins. If you fail to gear your compaign towards the electoral college, you lose. I wish you liberals would get it through your heads that the popular vote means nothing. It’s not even a consideration. It is like saying your team would have won the soccer match if they had been playing baseball. You can wish all you want for the popular vote. It ain’t gonna happen. If it favored the liberals, you would be hellbent for it.

No offense, but the rest of the post is nonsense and not worth addressing.

    1. Just as I said – you said: ‘The battle between Clinton and Trump was over who was the least objectionable. Trump won that battle.’ That has nothing to do with electoral colleges and the way that the USA slants its elections towards the right. It is about numbers. Three million more people found him more objectionable.

      1. “That has nothing to do with electoral colleges and the way that the USA slants its elections towards the right. It is about numbers. Three million more people found him more objectionable.”

It has everything to do with the electoral college. The Constitution does not slant the elections. It just makes it more competitive. It has worked to the Republican advantage so far. Did you know that George Bush beat Kerry by nearly three million votes, yet Kerry came within 60,000 in one state from winning the electoral college?

Some say that Clinton had three million more votes, some say one million. It was pretty much California. There’s a problem with the assertion that Clinton won the popular vote. She did win the count. However, say in the South, Trump won overwhelmingly. Since Trump obviously won, the mail-in and provisional votes likely weren’t counted. I am not saying it is likely, but Trump could have won the popular vote. Also, there was no recount. Who knows how many dead people voted in the liberal states. For some reason, they always vote Democrat in the afterlife.

“Hey – Make America Great! Rip it to bits, support slavery. Support fascism and bring back the KKK. Free guns. No hoax viruses. Everything is fake news. Don’t trust experts. Science is rubbish.”

You do realize that the Democrats started the KKK, don’t you? One of the greatest Democratic politicians, Robert Byrd, was one a Grand Wizard of the KKK. The NAZIs, of course, were socialists (it’s even in the name). The main scream media is the fake news. Do you disagree? If so, please explain the Russian collusion hoax. After giving Trump a thorough anal exam for two or three years, the Clinton team of lawyers had to admit there was none, so don’t give me the BS that it was really true. The sad part is that after all the lies from the main scream media and leaders of Congress such as Schiff and Nadler, intelligent people like yourself continue to fall for the fake news. Answer honestly; who has been more right about Trump, CNN or Fox News?

Seriously, do you think there is anyone advocating for free guns?

      2. Leroy, you wriggle and obfuscate. You said quite clearly that you thought more people found Trump less objectionable than Clinton. That was not true. More people found Trump objectionable. How the US uses those votes is immaterial. This ‘electoral college’ is, of course, undemocratic. It undermines the democratic process. It enables losers to win. We have similar undemocratic processes. But your assertion was not about what system you use for democracy was it?
Don’t come back at me with that silliness about the Nazi’s. You should learn your history and not the way the US right-wing has tried to twist it. Franco, Mussolini and Hitler were products of the right-wing. They were fascists. The reason they came into power was due to opposition to left-wing communism which, back in the 1930s, was in danger of gaining power throughout most of Europe. https://fullfact.org/online/nazis-socialists/ The adoption of Socialist in 1920 was an attempt to get the working class on board. The Nazis were an extreme right-wing party.

  25. “This ‘electoral college’ is, of course, undemocratic. It undermines the democratic process.”

That’s a good thing. Pure democracies are evil.

“Whose is opening colluding with the Russians? Inviting them to hack the opposition?”

Leftists are totally devoid of humor these days.

“Who was supported in the election by directed Russion interference?”

You must be behind the times. Brennan excluded facts that indicated the Russians wanted Clinton to win. Ask yourself, if they wanted Trump to win, why did they provide the derogatory information about Trump in the Steele dossier that obstructed the Trump administration? I’m sure you have some convoluted theory how this was supposed to help Trump. I can’t wait to hear it.

“Who meets with Russian politicians and businessmen? Who has investments in Russia?”

International businessmen. Who sells our uranium resources to Russia to help them set up a monopoly?

    1. Just heard that Trump is dispatching a platoon of his Storm Troopers to Los Angeles.
So as in the other cities where this has occurred, this will stir-up and create a whole new level of civil disturbances in an area that has previously pretty much quieted down.
Seems not only does Trump personally enjoy the chaos, but his campaign officials know that by starting up more chaos creates even more reasons for him to send in his Storm Troopers to portray the image he wants to instill in his “base” as being “the law and order President”. This has been the case since a month or so where he had his campaign officials infiltrating Right Wing militia and white supremacist social media sites to obtain their assistance in creating and manipulating incidents of looting and rioting (Boogaloos, Proud Boys, American Guard, Identity Evropa to name a few), then he turned the blame on “Antifa” and declared them a “terrorist group”.
All of this discord is nothing more than another Trump publicity stunt designed to gain votes during the election at the expense of loss and damage to businesses and even more hate and division in our country. But then most of us remember Trump’s doom and gloom inauguration speech which pretty much verified what his platform was going to be, which was to instill fear within Americans and divide the country.
      This is what Dictators do.

  26. If Trump continues to follow the fascist playbook, then his next move will be to start a war with someone… probably Iran. That will give the public someone to hate and enable him to push through things that would otherwise be dead in the water. He will also want to wrap himself in the halo of a powerful military. Although the USA is losing the economic race to China, it still has a ridiculously powerful military. He will want to use that to “show everyone who is boss”.

During the cold war the best weapon that the West had was the way that we lived. We simply had to let the people in the East see all of the material benefits of Capitalism and, eventually, the citadel would fall. Unfortunately, as Capitalism moves inexorably toward its logical conclusion, we can no longer do that. Income in real terms stagnated at best for the average person for a couple of decades, increasing insecurity and the critical decline of social mobility all mean that the West looks much less attractive than it used to.

What we need now are leaders able to set a new vision to improve the lot of people everywhere. Our system needs a radical overhaul. The challenge is that there are powerful lobbies, skilled at manipulating public opinion through both fair means and foul, who don’t want that to happen. It’s going to get rough…

    1. That is a chilling thought Robin. I think he might just do something like that.
He is already setting the groundwork to contest the election if he loses. He is acting more and more like a dictator! Very worrying.
I fear that it is the wealthy who hold the power and they are not going to let go. But Biden, although controlled by the same people, would not be as divisive or destructive.
I do not know how we get to a better state of affairs – either here or in the states.

      1. I think that a better answer will only come when, in the long run, the extremely wealthy realise that looking after the rest of society is actually in their long term interest. If wealth continues to concentrate in the way that it has, then there will be a general market collapse at some point. That will hurt everyone, including the wealthy. Unfortunately it is the view of the wealthy which will change things in today’s world… because they control all of the actual levers of power.

      2. That is exactly right Robin – and it’s on a global scale. If it carries on like this I think there will be a mass rebellion.

      3. I disagree. I don’t think that rebellion is possible in these days. What we see and hear is too confused and too well managed by vested interests. I think it will be market collapse rather than revolution which will bring about change

      4. You are probably right – though I do think that rioting can get out of hand and bring down governments. We’ve seen that happen. I wonder if we are not close to that in the States???

      5. Oh I see what you mean. General descent into chaos rather than any coherently led revolution. That would certainly get the wealthy worried… especially in the USA where there are so many guns around.

      6. I think they were worried here a number of years back when we had those riots. They cracked down on it but for a while it was looking as if it could escalate.
It happened in Egypt, didn’t it?
I think the States have been so divided and stirred up anything could happen.

    2. Great to meet you again, Robin. The recent Windows update seems to have cleared out all my passwords; a big problem. This is my third try.

I totally agree with your last paragraph. In my political philosopher hat, I’m working on the problem. But I don’t agree that capitalism is even part of the problem – even though certain capitalists may be, The problem is political government. I’ve just spent two weeks writing a 56-page response to a “consultation” about banning petrol and diesel cars. If we let them do what they want to, I won’t ever again be able to sing with the Stroud Wassail!

      1. Good to meet you again Neil. Well I am hoping that we will have a Stroud Wassail this January. It’s looking dodgy at the moment. Do we have a political Government? To me it looks like the sixth form have suddenly found themselves in charge and don’t have a clue what to do….

    3. “What we need now are leaders able to set a new vision to improve the lot of people everywhere. Our system needs a radical overhaul. The challenge is that there are powerful lobbies, skilled at manipulating public opinion through both fair means and foul, who don’t want that to happen. It’s going to get rough…”

What we need now are leaders able to set a new vision to improve the lot of people locally. Globalism will be the death of us. It doesn’t need an overhaul as much as it needs to get back to its roots, to what has worked.

The lobbies are a major challenge. American legislators no longer write their own bills. It’s all contracted out and funded by lobbies. That’s why–in Pelosi’s words–we have to pass bills to find out what’s in them. The very same lobbies, however, are the ones creating the disruptions today. They cannot be part of the solution. They are the problem.

We’re stuck between the proverbial rock and a hard place. We have too much debt, debt that can never be repaid absent of massive inflation. Yet, the direction is deflation Japanese style. In the US, we have massive state and local underfunded pensions and unfunded health benefits. We have the situation where we pay retired teachers and/or police more than we pay active ones. It will only get worse as babyboomers retire. The government attempts to squeeze blood out of the turnip by increasing regulations, fees, fines, and taxes. When there is a crisis such as the CCP virus, the center can no longer hold. The government can’t increase interest rates because it can’t afford the interest; therefore, we see negative interest rates, not in the US yet, but in Europe. It’s coming.

Yes. It will take something radical to fix it, but we disagree on the solution. Laissez-faire is the solution. Let corporations and businesses fail. Let state and local governments fail. We’re all capitalist regardless of the type of economy; we just play by different rules.

Nah. It won’t be Iran. Americans don’t understand the dynamics in Iran. Iran would be a winnable war but immensely unpopular. China has been properly demonized. I believe Trump wants to go down as the president who stopped the endless wars. He won’t start a war. But, I do believe he will have a skirmish with China. It will be supported by all sides. That would help with the elections. Trump has many levers to pull with China. Before you bow to China, please consider that most metrics coming out of China are fake.

      1. I had to rescue you out of the spam, box Leroy.
        But you are wrong.
The global elite operate globally. They need to be controlled globally.
The biggest problems facing us are global problems – overpopulation, pollution, climate change, species extinctions, diversity and poverty.
They are created by runaway capitalism and constant growth. We need to boot the greedy bastards like Trump out and get back to a sustainable way of living – fair and equitable.
There’s more than enough to go around it is just unfairly distributed.

  27. Robin, great to meet you again. And I totally agree with your last paragraph. I’ve just spent two weeks writing a 56-page reply to a government “consultation” on banning petrol and diesel cars. Obviously, I don’t want that to happen. If it did, how could I ever sing with the Stroud Wassail again?

I also agree with what you say about the “critical decline of social mobility.” But I don’t agree that capitalism is the problem. It is politics and political government that are the problems. In my submission, I talked of “creeping totalitarianism, creeping corruption and creeping centralization.” That’s what these bastards are doing to us.

  28. “What we need now are leaders able to set a new vision to improve the lot of people everywhere. Our system needs a radical overhaul. 1. Chuck out capitalism. Chuck out the greedy global elite. Control them. Strip them of power. Bring in a socialist system with proper democratic controls and restrictions. Capitalism is a fraud that exploits the majority for a tiny minority.
