I was watching football last night. We were playing really well and should have been five goals up by half-time. As it was we were only one goal to the good. But that was enough. It would move us to the top of the table.
I rang up the referee and told him to stop the match and validate the result. He refused.
It all went wrong in the second half. They scored two dubious goals, both against the run of play. On the first it looked to me that he was offside even if the technology showed that he was an inch onside. You can’t trust technology. I’m sure that the opposition rigged it. You can’t trust the opposition; they cheat.
The second goal was even more dubious. I’m positive that the ball didn’t cross the line even though the goal-line technology showed that it was over by a centimetre. We were being blatantly cheated!!
After the match I was fuming. We’d been robbed of victory. I was certain that the technology had been tampered with. They, the match officials in cahoots with the opposition, had deliberately conspired to steal our victory.
I was not going to put up with that! It was outrageous! They could not get away with messing with the technology to give them a victory they did not deserve!
I rang up the FA and complained. I told them that the two goals should not be allowed. They should be disqualified and the match awarded to us.
They refused. No mattered how much I argued, bullied and threatened they said that rules were rules.
I rang up my contacts and quickly got a mob together. I gave them a rousing talking too, about how we’d been robbed and we had to put things right and the only way to get justice was through force.
They went off in furious mood and stormed the FA’s office and referee’s home, trashed the places, threatening everyone and demanding that the two illegal goals be disqualified and the game awarded to us!!
For some reason a lot of people thought this was going too far. They disowned me.
Hmmmm. Somehow this sounds familiar to Tubularsock. Nah……, couldn’t happen in reality.

Frank Zappa said just about everything. And extremely well. So you may be correct.
But Tubularsock knows he said, “The universe consists of 5% protons, 5% neutrons, 5% electrons and 85% morons.” Still seems to fit today!
