Louisiana Swamps, Old Oaks and Spanish Moss – photos

Coming from England it is quite impressive to see the swamps in Louisiana, with their green algae, buttressed cypress trees and extraordinary cypress knees projecting out of the water.

A great swarm of mosquitos rose up to greet us! I was bitten to bits – but it was worth it.

Equally impressive were the old sprawling oaks festooned with incredible Spanish Moss.
