Buffy a full-blooded Native American Indian who came out of the New York Folk scene. She has recorded in a variety of styles though.
She has produced some of the strongest lyrics I have ever read – lyrics concerning the genocide of the Native Americans and their present-day plight. She is so passionate and forceful
I think ‘My country ’tis of thy people you’re dying’ is one of the strongest songs ever written.
I’m still angry over Cummings, Maitliss and Johnson’s incompetence. I’ll play Buffy and seethe.
Her voice used to put me on edge.
In what way Bumba? Was it that trill thing she had going?
Yeah, the trills give me too many chills.
I found the same with Joan Baez. In general I find male voices more appealing – nothing against women you understand – just an acoustic preference. I like a lower register.
True. Baez’s voice – and demeanor – are a bit too heavy. Still she has a beautiful voice. A basso singer can’t do those trills that annoy us.
That is true. I guess it is a matter of personal choice in the end. I find it jars – but the quality is superb.
Excellent choice. Of course.
Cheers Michael!!
Yesss I love her she’s amazing!!
We seem to have similar taste in music! That’s good!
