Playing the Velvets yesterday made me think of that other band from New York that captured my imagination. While not being musically brilliant their mad anarchy and sense of theatre was always entertaining and thought provoking.
The Fugs were a law unto themselves!! Sexual politics, political politics, madness, poetry, theatre, costume and a clear anti-establishment stance. Protopunks and precursors of the Dead Kennedy’s.
One of my favourites. I shall enjoy playing them today!! Let’s get out there and kill for peace!!
