Poetry – The Wave – a poem about wrenching everything out of life and living it to the full.
Sometimes I think life is all a mad rush. We are borne along and thrill to the ride. It all storms past in a great blur and you are swamped by it.
We seek to make it brighter and more vivid by taking risks and seeking thrills for we know that looming before us the seas grow quiet and we will be washed up on the shore.
A WAVE
There is this wave
Called life
We seek to ride,
To slide
To it’s summit
And career above
The trough,
Some to hang over
The edge,
Thrilling
To the sight
Of the drop,
As we rush
Forever on
Holding our position
At the brink.
Then some
Would seek to raise
The very ocean
So that it might
All become
The crest of the
Greatest wave
The sea has ever seen.
Though we are doomed
To find
We have smoothed
The squall
To languid calm
Through the course
Of all our time.
