I’m sick to death with politicians telling me that are going to deliver the type of Brexit the British people voted for.
They do not know what the British people voted for. That was not part of the question.
The British people, by a narrow margin, voted to leave the EU. The reasons for that vote are not clear. There is no way of telling.
Some voted to leave because of immigration
Some voted to leave because of the economics
Some voted to leave because of sovereignty
Some voted to leave because of the EU
Some voted to leave to make a protest.
Some voted to leave out of patriotism and nationalism.
Some voted for all of the above.
Some voted for other reasons.
We have no way of knowing!
One thing is clear – there was no mandate for any particularly type of Brexit and anyone says there is would be a liar.
The referendum was badly organised. A binary vote does not tell you anything.
Next time you hear someone who thinks they know the reasons why these people voted – just tell them to shut up! They know nothing!
There are a choice of various ways to leave the EU.
No majority voted for any one way.
We need a new referendum!
