Crosby, Stills & Nash – A Long Time Coming

Just listen to those harmonies. There’s nothing quite like it.

And listen to those lyrics – so pertinent to today – Speak out – Speak out against the madness!! That dawn looks a long way off but it’s coming!!

“Long Time Gone”

[Intro. (Electric Guitar)]

It’s been a long time comin’
It’s goin’ to be a long time gone

And it appears to be a long
Appears to be a long
Appears to be a long time
Yes, a long, long, long, long time before the dawn

Turn turn any corner
Hear you must hear what the people say
You know there’s something that’s goin’ on around here
The surely, surely, surely won’t stand the light of day, no

And it appears to be a long
Appears to be a long, mmm
Appears to be a long time
Such a long, long time before the dawn

[Instrumental (Electric Guitar)]

Speak out you got to speak out against the madness
You got to speak your mind if you dare
But don’t, no don’t, no, try to get yourself elected
If you do you had better cut your hair, mmm

And it appears to be a long
Appears to be a long, mmm
Appears to be a long time
Such a long, long, long, long time before the dawn

It’s been a long time comin’ (Long time comin’)
It’s goin’ to be a long time gone (Long time gone)

But you know
The darkest hour
Is always, always just before the dawn

And it appears to be a long
Appears to be a long
Appears to be a long time
Such a long, long, long, long time before the dawn

[Ending (Electric Guitar)]

  1. Theres the good stuff! Lighting up a bit of Mark E tonight myself. If you can tear yourself off WB a minute stop by and say “‘ullo” 🙂

      1. We are having some problems getting the site set up the way we want it to function. Trouble seems to be in navigating between what constitutes a page and a post. We have fixed a static home page which provides an introduction and have entered the various pages on the menu, but then from this we tried to fix something like a sticky post for that page. In other words we mean to have a “cover page” specific to each individual page in the menu to always appear as the opening for that page. From that we want to have the newest post specific to each page appearing immediately after that page’s “cover”. Finally, still trying to work out how to build and link the archives of old articles, also specific to their pages. Hey! I’m a writer, not an IT guy. You are a WP veteran. Any suggestions?

      2. Ale – Sorry I’m a writer too and know fuck all about IT. My site was set up for me. I just post on it. My posts used to go out on facebook automatically but that seems to be changed recently and I need someone to sort that out for me. I’m lost with IT.

  2. Opher, ref Nash and Crosby, where Nash’s said he stepped over a line and he’ll never speak to him again? Have you heard anymore on this? What happened? Why?

    1. No I haven’t talked to my mate recently. But when they played MEN I was taken round their luxury coaches by my mate and his friend who was the tour manager. They were incredible, utter luxury, but they hardly slept in them. Seemingly they all went off to the best hotels in the area. They all went to different ones if possible. They did not talk to each other. Only Graham stayed behind for the huge after-gig event. The other two baled out straight away. He showed me the three carpet squares on the stage. They each had their own. They performed on those squares because they had vowed never to be on the same stage as each other. Their manager found it hilarious. Graham was the person who held it together. I don’t know what went on recently. I guess he’s had enough. It’s a shame because they were superb.

      1. Yeah, it’s been that way with them since around Crosby’s return from his drug abyss and release from jail in the late 80s. He returned with an attitude problem.
Your MEN thing was five years ago. Nash being from Manchester would kind of have to be there if there was an after-gig event.
I’m talking about a situation that occurred this year, 2018.
Crosby also laid into Neil Young earlier this year, too, with public statements on his (Crosby’s) opinion on Neil’s personal life. But it wasn’t about that either. With the Nash thing, Nash was absolutely furious, beyond angry level.

      2. Yes – but I do not know any more about it than you do. Crosby’s a bit messed up. The only thing I’ve heard is about the Nash autobiography but I think it’s more than that.

  3. at the home page click on Poets Page in the menu bar, may need to scroll down a couple. posts on that page are pretty brief
