The Void – A poem.

In the Beginning

In the beginning was the void.

In the end was the void.

In-between is me, the universe and you.

Isn’t that amazing??

We come out of a void. We return to a void. We live for a brief flash that seems to last forever.

The universe comes out of nothing. It exists. It dies.

The only thing we know is that we are aware. We think we live and we hate to think of that ending and all that we hold dear with return to nothing.

What do we know?

  1. Poetry is dripping from your finger tips, Opher. Short and not so sweet – our philosophies are diametrically opposed 🙂

  2. I think the key phrase you used above “we don’t know” is exactly the problem. We can’t say there’s nothing but a void after death. We can’t say there are the heaven and hell preached at us by all the religions either. We don’t know. No one has come back from the dead to tell us… oh wait! What about those who have had near death experiences? Perhaps we should look to those accounts.

    1. Yes John – I was fascinated by those accounts of near death experiences. I’m not sure what they tell us though. I also read the scientific explanations. Interesting stuff.
