A profusion of Birds on the Farne Islands

It is an amazing sight to see masses of birds congregating together on the rocks to breed and rear their young. It is a hive of activity as guillemots, razorbills, gulls, kittiwakes, puffins, shags and cormorants are squatting in their nests, clinging to cliff faces, flying off to fish, sitting on the water and diving below the surface.

The day was very misty but the sight was awesome.

It demonstrated to me just how much we need to do to protect our diminishing wildlife.
